Following the passage of the Protect Our Kids Act yesterday, House Democrats once again took action to address the gun violence epidemic.
No thanks to Andrew Garbarino, today, the House passed the Federal Extreme Risk Protection Order Act, legislation “which would allow law enforcement and family members to obtain an extreme risk protection order to temporarily remove access to firearms for those who are deemed a danger to themselves or to others by a federal court.”
Simple “red flag” legislation like this would decrease the risk of crime, violence, and mass shootings, – and could have helped prevent the tragic attack in Buffalo just last month – yet Garbarino voted against it.
DCCC spokesperson Nebeyatt Betre:
“Andrew Garbarino refuses to muster an ounce of courage to stand up against the gun lobby. Instead, he cowers and continues to vote against bipartisan, popular, and commonsense legislation that could have saved New Yorkers’ lives.”
