As House Democrats work around the clock to save Americans’ health care and reopen the government, Andy Ogles is demanding they allow him to saddle already struggling families in TN-05 with massive health care cost increases.
While Ogles gleefully tweets about letting Affordable Care Act Tax Credits expire during a Republican shutdown, voters in his district are staring down an up to300% increaseto their health care premiums if he gets his way.
In Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District alone 57,000 people rely on ACA Tax Credits. If these credits expire, as Ogles is demanding, his own constituents will see their insurance premiumsnearly double. More than 25,000peoplein TN-05 will lose their health care altogether because they can’t afford the increased premiums.
This is after Ogles voted to enact the largest cut to Medicaid in history, ripping away health care from Tennesseans all while giving handouts to the ultra-wealthy.
