According to new analysis, the Department of Education is withholding billions of funds to public schools across the country, including nearly $10 million in grants appropriated to Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District.
Without these funds, schools in Andy Ogles’ district may not be able to hire new teachers, train educators, or provide affordable after-school care for working families.
As Ogles pushes to permanently close the Department of Education, Tennessee students and working families are missing out on the support and resources they need.
DCCC Spokesperson Madison Andrus:
“Andy Ogles is playing political football with Tennessee children’s futures. As Ogles drones on and on about political ragebait, Tennessee’s working families are suffering. If he can’t stand up and demand the release of nearly $10 million for his district’s students that Congress has already approved then what is he even doing there?”
