This past weekend, crowds of Andy Ogles’ constituents were shut out in the rain as Andy Ogles failed to defend his vote for Republicans’ Big, Ugly Law that passed devastating cuts for vital programs working families rely on, just to give massive tax breaks to billionaires.
The partisan event, organized and hosted by the explicitly conservative group Americans for Prosperity, was criticized by constituents “for not allowing them to attend the Q&A.” Despite being refused entry, constituents of Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District stood outside to protest his vote to rip health care away from tens of thousands of Tennesseans.
REMINDER: Andy Ogles and House Republicans’ Big, Ugly Law will
- Rip more than 30,000 people in TN-05 off of their health care coverage
- Put 9 rural hospitals throughout TN at risk of closing, including 1 hospital in TN-05
- Raise annual energy bills in the state by $188
- Act as “backdoor for privatizing Social Security” as Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent admitted
- Threaten nearly 15,000 TN-05 families’ ability to put food on the table
DCCC Spokesperson Madison Andrus:
“Let’s be 100% clear here – this was not a townhall. Townhalls aren’t carefully curated to only include supporters and they certainly don’t turn constituents away based on disagreements. This was a show of cowardice by Andy Ogles who can’t even stand to face his own constituents. Ogles only knows how to hide and lie – and Tennessee voters are sick of it.” |
