Ann Wagner continues to attack critical, lifesaving services for everyday Missourians in order to pay for tax breaks for the wealthy and well-connected. After voting for the Big, Ugly Law that would rip health care away from 17 million Americans, including more than 250,000 Missourians, Wagner just voted to take away over $1 billion in funds for the Corporation of Public Broadcasting.
For many parts of the country, especially rural communities, public broadcasting serves as the main source for emergency weather alerts to warn people about floods, fires and other natural disasters. It’s a critical system that millions of people depend on. Wagner’s vote to gut the funding will jeopardize stations’ ability to maintain these emergency alert systems and endanger public safety.
