| Last night, Ann Wagner voted to cede Congress’ oversight authority on sweeping, reckless tariffs that are raising costs for Missourians.
The pivotal vote comes as a new report from the Tax Foundation found tariffs cost the average American household $1,000 last year. The cost is expected to rise in 2026 to $1,300 if existing tariffs that House Republicans voted on yesterday stay in place.
This isn’t the first time Wagner voted to rubber stamp sweeping tariffs. In September of 2025, Wagner and Republicans voted to protect price-hiking tariffs, after doing the same thing in March of 2025. Yesterday’s vote would have shielded oversight until the Summer of 2026.
