Today, a near-total abortion ban in Florida takes effect. The implementation of this ban puts a spotlight on Anna Paulina Luna’s support for the deeply unpopular legislation and her long-standing anti-abortion record.
Luna supports the Florida abortion ban despite 67% of Floridians opposing politicians interfering with their personal health care decisions.
Luna’s Republican Study Committee released a budget which calls for passing the Life at Conception Act – which would ban abortion nationwide with no exceptions.
DCCC Spokesperson Lauryn Fanguen released the following statement:
“Today, women in Florida woke up with fewer rights than they had yesterday. Under this near-total abortion ban, they will now have to travel out of state for health care. Voters are outraged over Republicans’ draconian policy and won’t look kindly on out-of-touch politicians like Anna Paulina Luna who support the erosion of their rights.
“Luna boastfully praised Florida for doing ‘the right thing.’ However, with abortion rights on the ballot and the opportunity to kick anti-abortion extremist Anna Paulina Luna out of Congress this fall, Pinellas County voters will do the right thing and vote to protect their rights.”
