| Roughly 25 million seniors will pay more for their prescription drug costs after the Trump Administration ended a Medicare Part D program offsetting premium costs for older Americans, and Anna Paulina Luna is silent.
For seniors living on fixed incomes, the higher monthly premiums will be a painful blow as they are already struggling with the skyrocketing cost of living. They will learn what they’ll be paying this fall – just as they head to the polls.
The AP notes: “the decision opens [Republicans]… to political consequences in a high-stakes midterm election year, [where] voters have identified cost of living as a top concern,” and as older adults “vote in high numbers.”
Instead of standing up for Florida seniors, Luna has repeatedly supported efforts that would raise prescription drug costs, cosponsoring a bill to repeal legislation that capped insulin costs and allowed Medicare to negotiate lower prescription drug prices.
It’s the latest in a pattern of her attacks on affordable health care. Luna also cast a deciding vote for the largest Medicaid cuts in history and voted against an extension of ACA premium tax credits, driving up health care costs for her constituents by 32.5%.
