On Anniversary of Roe v. Wade, Reminder that Congressman Bruce Poliquin Broke His Word and Voted to Defund Planned Parenthood Six Times

As the anniversary of Roe v. Wade draws attention to the ongoing rightwing attacks against women’s health, it is also a reminder that House Republicans like Congressman Bruce Poliquin have voted numerous times to defund Planned Parenthood.

Shortly after telling Maine he wouldn’t, Poliquin went back on his word and has now voted six times to defund the women’s health service, a critical resource that has provided vital health care to more than 16,000 men, women and children in Maine alone, according to a 2014 annual report.

“The anniversary of Roe v. Wade reminds us of the importance of defending against attacks on women’s health, a rightwing effort aided by Bruce Poliquin who has voted with House Republicans six times to defund Planned Parenthood,” said Meredith Kelly at the DCCC. “By going back on his word six times and voting repeatedly to cut off access to a critical health service that received 16,000 Mainers in one year alone, Poliquin has proven that he is no different from the rest of the House Republicans in Washington.”
