Vulnerable Republican Rep. Andy Harris continues to demonstrate how his bizarre personal crusades come first over the needs of his district and commonsense bipartisan legislation.
So far this March, Andy Harris has:
-
Voted against a bill to promote public education about the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II. The bill passed 406-16.
-
Voted against a bill to designate a memorial honoring the victims of the 2019 El Paso shooting. The bill passed 403-25.
-
Voted against the bipartisan budget deal that sent millions in investments to local projects in Maryland – no thanks to Andy Harris.
-
Fortunately, the Eastern Shore ultimately received $9.5 million in direct federal funding for local projects, thanks to Maryland’s Democratic U.S. Senators and no thanks to MD-01’s Member of Congress.
-
While some Republicans helped pass the budget bills (361-69 and 260-171) and get projects in their communities funded, Andy Harris put himself over his district, almost costing the Eastern Shore millions in funding for long sought after projects.
DCCC Spokesperson Abel Iraola
“Andy Harris continues to demonstrate that he puts himself first over the communities he represents, taking mind-boggling stands against recognizing national tragedies and refusing to fight for Eastern Shore communities during the bipartisan budget process. He should revisit the term limit promise he broke, because Marylanders can’t afford another two years of Andy Harris.”
