| House Republicans are retiring at an historic rate. With Rep. Kevin Hern announcing his candidacy for Senate, 36 House Republicans are now retiring from the 119th Congress — the most since 2018 when Democrats flipped 41 seats.
A significant portion of these vacancies are in high-stakes battleground districts. Democrats have already set their sights on several of these now-open seats, including: AZ-01, CA-48, IA-02, KY-06, MI-10, MT-01, NE-02, and SC-01.
The environment continues to move in Democrats’ favor, with a new NBC poll showing Dems hold a 6 point advantage on the generic ballot. And according to Quinnipiac, 7 in 10 Americans are concerned with the rise in oil and gas prices as a result of the war in Iran. As economic conditions worsen, Americans will continue to register their frustration with House Republicans’ broken promises.
DCCC Spokesperson Liam Buckley:
“Republicans are fleeing for the exits because they know they’re going to lose the majority this November. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.” |
