The Supreme Court has officially overturned Roe v. Wade, eliminating the constitutional right to abortion for millions of women and paving the way for Republicans to pass a nationwide ban on abortion. It’s a future that April Becker has long worked towards – and now she will have to own up to her extreme, deeply unpopular positions.
Becker is proudly anti-choice and was backed by the extremist anti-abortion group Nevada Right to Life, which wants to ban abortion without exceptions for rape or incest. She also accepted the endorsement of Susan B. Anthony List, which applauded the drastic Texas abortion ban that allows people to collect bounties for reporting doctors or anyone else who helps women get abortions.
Make no mistake: Becker is completely out of step with Nevada voters on this issue, who voted to protect a woman’s right to an abortion by a two-to-one margin in 1990.
She will be held accountable for her party’s role in decimating women’s reproductive freedoms and their plan to institute a nationwide abortion ban – undoing the will of Nevada voters.
DCCC spokesperson Johanna Warshaw:
“The stakes in this election could not be higher: anti-choice April Becker is backed by extremist groups that want to make all abortion illegal without exceptions for rape or incest. Becker couldn’t be more out of step with Southern Nevadans – and we will remind Nevada voters of her cruel extremism every day until November.”
