Are Vulnerable House Republicans Proud of the “Trump Economy”?

More than a year into the Trump trifecta in Washington, prices are still soaringhealth care is too expensive (and in some cases not affordable at all), and the American people are blaming Republicans for their broken promises.

Nonetheless, Donald Trump took full ownership of the economy in an interview ahead of the Super Bowl when asked if the country has started to feel the Trump economy: “I’d say we’re there now. I’m very proud of it.”

Now that Trump has admitted rising prices and the awful economy is his fault, will vulnerable House Republicans continue to fall in line or try to run away from their broken promises?

A recent poll from Fox News found Donald Trump is 19 points underwater on the economy, being dragged down by Latinos (-26) and Independent voters (-60). 83% of Independents and 68% of voters overall do not think Trump is spending enough time on the economy. Meanwhile, Democrats are more trusted to handle affordability (+14 points), helping the middle class (+14 points), and health care (+21 points).

REMINDER: Ahead of Super Bowl Sunday, the DCCC launched HouseRepublicanPriceHike.com as a tool for Americans to explore how much Republicans’ extreme agenda is costing them on everyday items at the grocery store. Beer, soda, potato chips, ground beef, chicken, American cheese all cost more today than they did when Republicans took control of the House.

DCCC Spokesperson Justin Chermol:
“House Republicans have failed to deliver on their core campaign promise to lower the high cost of living. Instead, everyday goods are more expensive and the American people can’t afford health care because of their extreme, partisan games.”
