Army Veteran and Oregon State Senator Slams Alek Skarlatos (OR-04) for Jokes About Sexual Violence

State Senator Manning: Alek Skarlatos’ “dangerous mentality [is] beneath the office he seeks to hold”

In a letter to the editor in the Register-Guard, army veteran and current state senator James Manning Jr. slams Republican congressional candidate Alek Skarlatos (OR-04) for his disturbing comments about choking and killing women during sex.

Manning writes:

“Veterans like Mr. Skarlatos and I are meant to lead by example. People look to us for leadership. Sadly, Mr. Skarlatos offers no leadership – only a dangerous mentality beneath the office he seeks to hold.

Skarlatos has also come under fire for interacting with images of “scantily clad” underage girls on social media. And just last week, KLCC published a story about Skarlatos’ recent comments about these incidents at a Springfield church, where he continued to make light of his disturbing behavior.

DCCC Spokesperson Teddy Lake:
“Alek Skarlatos poses a clear and present danger to women and girls across Oregon – in more ways than one.”
