It’s been 11 days since Bryan Steil let the Farm Bill expire. As he and House Republicans enter another week of chaos, dysfunction, and ineffectiveness amid their party infighting, Steil hasn’t said a word about the Farm Bill expiring, nor has hedoneanything to pass another one.
Failing to pass a Farm Bill could hurt the more than 64,100 farms in Wisconsin and put 17,700 dairy jobs in Steil’s district at risk of missing out on critical monthly payments. Failure could also cost U.S. taxpayers nearly $20 billion dollars and more than double the price of milk at grocery stores, hurting Wisconsin families.
DCCC Spokesperson Mallory Payne:
“Bryan Steil and House Republicans have proven again and again that they’re too dysfunctional to get anything done, and Wisconsinites are paying the price. While Wisconsin dairy farmers and families edge closer to feeling the disastrous effects of the expired Farm Bill, Steil is too busy enabling extremists and playing politics in D.C. to care.”
