As GOP Dysfunction Continues, Derrick Van Orden Puts Expired Farm Bill On Back Burner

It’s been 11 days since Derrick Van Orden let the Farm Bill expire. As he and House Republicans enter another week of chaos, dysfunction, and ineffectiveness amid their party infighting, Van Orden hasn’t said a word about the expired Farm Bill in weeks, nor has he done anything to pass another one. He’s more concerned with cozying up to the most extreme members of his party, including Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Failing to pass a Farm Bill could hurt the more than 64,100 farms in Wisconsin and put 30,300 dairy jobs in Van Orden’s district at risk of missing out on critical monthly payments. Failure could also cost U.S. taxpayers nearly $20 billion dollars and more than double the price of milk at grocery stores, hurting Wisconsin families.

DCCC Spokesperson Mallory Payne:
“Derrick Van Orden and House Republicans have proven again and again that they’re too dysfunctional to get anything done, and Wisconsinites are paying the price. While Wisconsin dairy farmers and families edge closer to feeling the disastrous effects of the expired Farm Bill, Van Orden is too busy prioritizing extremists and playing politics in D.C. to care.”
