It’s been 11 days since Mariannette Miller-Meeks let the Farm Bill expire. As she and House Republicans enter another week of chaos, dysfunction, and ineffectiveness amid their party infighting, Miller-Meeks hasn’t said a word about the expired Farm Bill in weeks, nor has she done anything to pass another one.
Failing to pass a Farm Bill could hurt the more than 84,900 farms in Iowa and put 9,400 dairy jobs in Miller-Meeks’ district at risk of missing out on critical monthly payments. Failure could also cost U.S. taxpayers nearly $20 billion dollars and more than double the price of milk at grocery stores, hurting Iowa families.
DCCC Spokesperson Mallory Payne:
“Mariannette Miller-Meeks and House Republicans have proven again and again that they’re too dysfunctional to get anything done, and Iowans are paying the price. While Iowa dairy farmers and families edge closer to feeling the disastrous effects of the expired Farm Bill, Miller-Meeks is too busy enabling extremists and cozying up to Republican presidential hopefuls to care.”
