New reporting from the Detroit News has revealed that former Michigan House Speaker Lee Chatfield is under investigation in connection to an alleged “criminal enterprise” potentially involving embezzlement, bribery, campaign finance violations, and controlled substances. This comes after Chatfield was credibly accused of sexually assaulting his then-underaged sister-in-law for over a decade.
Tom Barrett’s response? Silence.
Chatfield previously helped bankroll Barrett’s campaigns to the tune of nearly $13,000. And Barrett even traveled with the disgraced former speaker to meet with Trump at the White House amid the former president’s reckless efforts to overturn the 2020 election.
