As Michiganders Face Rising Prices and Falling Farm Profits, Reminder that Amir Hassan Fully Backs Cost-Raising Tariffs

As Michigan families prepare for the holiday season, they’re being forced to grapple with higher prices and surprise fees due to cost-raising tariffs – and Michigan farmers are being devastated by these tariffs that are making it harder to sell their crops and driving down profits.

Farmers saw a 47% decrease in soybean export profits, as a farmer in Davison, Michigan said he’s losing “probably anywhere from 80 cents to a dollar a bushel” on soybeans. Michiganders are seeing this impact: voters “fear that tariffs are to blame for higher costs” and expect a recession.

Amir Hassan has made it clear where he stands: with his DC party bosses, in support of these tariffs that are causing “unexpected charges on merchandise and festive favorites.”

Amir Hassan has enthusiastically supported tariffs raising prices for Mid-Michigan families and harming farmers’ livelihoods:

DCCC Spokesperson Katie Smith:
“Whether it’s sticker shock while holiday gift shopping for their kids or buying groceries for their holiday dinners, Michiganders are feeling the squeeze of higher prices thanks to reckless tariffs supported by Amir Hassan. Hassan’s agenda is raising families’ costs and hurting Michigan’s farmers – it’s clear Hassan will put his party bosses before Mid-Michigan.”
