With no released plan, extreme MAGA Republicans cheer for economic Armageddon
Today, President Biden introduced a budget that will reduce the deficit by $3 trillion over the next ten years and deliver critical investments to the American people. Meanwhile, extreme MAGA Republicans are aimless. Budget Committee Chair Jodey Arrington (R-TX) suggested the Republican budget plan might not be released until May – setting the groundwork to hold the economy hostage just week’s before the U.S. economy is expected to default.
While Republicans have failed to fabricate a plan out of fear of making public their extreme agenda of cutting Social Security and Medicare for America’s seniors, and gutting key federal law enforcement programs to keep Americans safe, Republicans have been working behind closed doors with former President Trump’s OMB Director Russell Vought. Some of the extreme proposals being floated are:
Gutting food security programs and Medicaid programs
Cutting ACA expansions to Medicaid
Defunding the FBI, the agency that keeps all Americans safe
Destroying certain foreign aid programs at a time when democracies are defending themselves against autocracies
Some key components of the Biden plan:
Extend the solvency of Medicare funding for another quarter century
Cut the deficit by asking corporations to pay their fair share, and cut wasteful spending on Big Pharma, Big Oil, and other special interests
Lower everydays costs for health insurance, prescription drugs, child care, college, housing, and more
Vulnerable Republicans have zero ground to stand on when it comes to talking about fiscal responsibility. Instead of working to cut the deficit and improve the lives of everyday families, they’ve enabled their caucus to work behind closed doors to develop a plan that would jeopardize the financial security of everyday Americans and endanger U.S. national security interests at home – and abroad.
