AS SEEN ON LOCAL TV: Congressman Rob Bresnahan Faces Scrutiny Over Medicaid Vote And Stock Trades [WNEP]

Local news station reports: “Health Care Cuts and High-Dollar Trades: Pressure Builds on Representative Rob Bresnahan”

Rob Bresnahan lied to NEPA voters – and now they’re hearing about it on TV.

In a new 7-minute long TV segment from local station WNEP, Bresnahan faces heavy scrutiny for breaking his promise not to gut Medicaid, and for becoming a prolific stock trader in Congress despite campaigning on a pledge to ban congressional trading.

WNEP reports that Bresnahan “repeatedly promised to protect Medicaid” but voted for Republicans’ budget that “cuts about one trillion dollars from Medicaid,” and that he “has made more than 600 trades since taking office, totaling about $7 million.”

The brutal local news segment is the latest sign that Bresnahan’s broken promises are breaking through back home with NEPA voters.

Health Care Cuts and High-Dollar Trades: Pressure Builds on Representative Rob Bresnahan

  • Seven months into his first term, Congressman Rob Bresnahan is facing scrutiny for some of his actions since taking office.
  • The Republican from Luzerne County voted for President Trump’s so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which cuts about one trillion dollars from Medicaid over the next decade.
  • Tens of thousands of people in our area depend on Medicaid to cover things such as doctor visits and hospital stays.
  • “I can assure you, and I don’t like to make promises, but this is a promise I’m willing to make. When I go to Washington, DC, every vote I take will be for what’s best for Northeast Pennsylvania,” Bresnahan said.
  • Those were the promises Rob Bresnahan made in a debate last fall, promises that helped him win a seat in Congress. Now, just months into his first term, they’re in the spotlight.
  • According to the [Pennsylvania Policy] Center, nearly 3 million people in Pennsylvania rely on Medicaid. Many of those folks live in Bresnahan’s district, largely in Luzerne and Lackawanna Counties, and may now be in jeopardy of losing their healthcare.
  • “I think it’s shameful that he is not doing what he said he was going to do for his constituents. And apparently the millionaires and the billionaires, and the bullying by our president, are more important for where he is in his life, than it is for the families living right here in his district,” Heisler said.
  • The congressman has repeatedly promised to protect Medicaid and not vote for any reduction for vulnerable populations.
  • […] One of Bresnahan’s recent stock trades is raising questions.
  • According to Quiver Quantitative, an investment research platform, Congressman Bresnahan sold off his stock in Centene, one of the largest Medicare providers, back in May. That sale came just before a key House vote on the “Big Beautiful Bill.”
  • Bresnahan’s filings with the House of Representatives show he has made more than 600 trades since taking office, totaling about $7 million.
