Last night, Abigail Spanberger joined a strongly bipartisan majority of the U.S. House to pass the Annual Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) — despite vocal opposition from Yesli Vega’s chief congressional allies, the House Freedom Caucus.
The most extreme far-right coalition in Congress, the Freedom Caucus, voted against a critical 4.6 percent pay increase for U.S. service members and civilian personnel. Yesli Vega has repeatedly pledged that she would join the House Freedom Caucus and touted the support of their members.
Thanks to Abigail Spanberger, the House passed raises for service members – but Yesli Vega’s allies voted no. With so many families wrestling with high costs struggling to make ends meet, Virginians cannot afford to send Vega and her extremism to Congress.
DCCC Spokesperson Monica Robinson
“Yesli Vega has consistently proven that she is more interested in standing with extremists in Washington than with everyday Virginians. Vega has promised to join the Freedom Caucus, which shamelessly voted against pay raises for service men and women. Virginia’s military families can’t afford to send her to Congress to leave our military behind.”
