After her first failed year in office of siding with Washington Republicans over Iowans, it’s no surprise Ashley Hinson is trying to rewrite her record of opposing resources for public health workers and law enforcement officers who are looking out for Northeast Iowans.
Yesterday, Hinson falsely claimed that she’d “always” support frontline workers including law enforcement officers, emergency responders, and public health workers.
But the truth is that Hinson stood in the way while House Democrats delivered funding for counties across her district through the American Rescue Plan – investments which can directly address recruitment and staff shortages and bolster law enforcement and first responder services, a key concern among the officials who spoke to Hinson.
“When it mattered most, Ashley Hinson turned her back on Northeast Iowa by voting to block critical resources for law enforcement and public health officials,” said DCCC spokesperson Elena Kuhn. “Hinson continues to show that she’s a typical politician who says one thing in Worth County, but does another in Washington, D.C. – even when it leaves first responders behind.”
