Ashley Hinson Is Coming For Social Security

Recently, Washington Republicans came clean about their plan to gut Social Security. Bloomberg reported that if Republicans take control of the House, top party leaders plan to drastically alter Social Security, and they intend to play politics and use next year’s debt ceiling deadline as leverage.

This is music to Ashley Hinson’s ears.

Shortly after winning election and before even taking office, Hinson declared herself “open” to raising the retirement age for Social Security, saying, “I think it’s my job now to go in and try to make some of those tough decisions.”

In April, she made her intention clear once again, pledging that Republicans would be “making some tough decisions” about the future of Social Security if they took control of Congress. Hinson even revealed that “tough decisions” about Social Security were “one of the things we’re talking about” behind closed doors in Washington.

DCCC spokesperson Matt Corridoni:
“Ashley Hinson has chosen politics over Iowa families before and we know she’ll do it again. If Republicans take control of the House, Hinson will gladly work to gut Social Security and threaten the financial security of hundreds of thousands of Iowans. Voters know where Hinson’s priorities lie and will reject her and Republican attacks on Social Security this November.”
