Ask Amanda? After a Year of Campaigning, Amanda Adkins Leaves Major Questions Unanswered

Adkins avoids commenting on wildly popular issues, afraid Kansans may find out the truth

It’s been one year since Amanda Adkins announced she was running for the Kansas Third again after her failed campaign in 2020. And despite holding so-called “Ask Amanda” events since then, Adkins has still managed to dodge essential questions about her platform and legislative priorities.

With only seven months left until election day, Kansans finally deserve answers from Amanda Adkins. Here are just some of the questions Adkins still needs to answer:

  1. Why do you oppose gas tax relief for Kansas families, despite overwhelming public support?

Last week, a Politico/Morning Consult poll confirmed what many Americans already know: a gas tax suspension is a popular, surefire measure to lower prices and ease some of the pain that Kansans are feeling at the pump.

In light of this overwhelming public support, Adkins must say why she continues to oppose this tax cut for Kansas families and workers.

  1. Would you have voted against legislation to cap insulin prices and prevent price gouging of lifesaving medicine?

The House recently passed legislation that would cap the out-of-pocket cost of insulin at $35 per month, helping to prevent pharmaceutical companies from price gouging consumers.

Would Adkins have backed this potentially lifesaving legislation, or would she have joined the 193 Republicans who voted against this common sense bill to protect Americans from rising costs?

  1. Will you stand with American workers, or with China?

It’s been over a month since the House passed the COMPETES Act, legislation that would boost American competitiveness with China, empower American workers, and tackle rising costs. Kansans deserve to know whether Adkins would have fallen in line with her Washington party bosses and voted against investing in jobs and manufacturing right here at home.

  1. Would you support a Texas-style abortion ban in Kansas?

Given Adkins’ close ties to former Governor Brownback, who pushed to make abortion illegal even in cases of rape and incest, Kansans deserve know whether Adkins would back an abortion ban that places bounties on doctors, family members, and anyone who tries to help women access critical care.
