Democratic candidate for California’s 41st District Will Rollins recently won the endorsement of the Palm Springs Police Officers’ Association in a “major coup” over vulnerable Republican Ken Calvert.
“As a federal prosecutor, Will has had an accomplished career in law enforcement, and Will shares our perspective for the leading role police officers take on every day in protecting communities, businesses, homes, and people,” said Mike Torres, vice president of the police union that had backed Calvert in previous years before shifting its weight behind Rollins this cycle.
This endorsement adds to Rollins’ growing coalition of support from Democratic, Republican, and independent voters, and highlights how his experience and successful record in law enforcement resonate with communities across Riverside County.

Anchor: One of the closest congressional races of the year could be in California’s 41st District, which includes parts of the Inland Empire. It is a rematch of Republican Congressman Ken Calvert, and democratic challenger Will Rollins. A big and somewhat surprising endorsement for Rollins today from the Palm Springs Police Officers’ Association. What makes this notable is that during the 2022 election, that same association backed Calvert over Rollins. Rollins is a former federal prosecutor.
Mike Torres: As a federal prosecutor, Will has had an accomplished career in law enforcement, and Will shares our perspective for the leading role police officers take on everyday in protecting communities, businesses, homes, and people.
[…]
Will Rollins: They stand for everything I believe in.

BACKING OF THE BLUE — Democratic House candidate Will Rollins has won the endorsement of the Palm Springs Police Officers’ Association. The nod is a major coup for Rollins, considering the police union previously endorsed his opponent, incumbent GOP Rep. Ken Calvert, in 2022 — the last time Rollins and Calvert faced off over a purple seat in CA-41 (Riverside County and the Coachella Valley).
-
Tough-on-crime policies have emerged as a central issue in the race, one of the most-watched battleground districts in the country… Rollins, a former federal prosecutor, has emphasized his law enforcement record and evoked Calvert’s past run-in with police regarding a prostitute.

Anchor: The Palm Springs Police Officers Association is now endorsing Democrat Will Rollins for California’s 41st Congressional District. It comes two years after the association endorsed Rollins’ opponent in the race, the incumbent Republican Ken Calvert. NewsChannel 3’s Jennifer Franco reports on the reasons for the association’s shift this election cycle.
Jennifer Franco, KESQ: With the clock ticking down to the November election, supporters are taking sides in the race for California’s 41st Congressional District. This election cycle, the Palm Springs Police Officers’ Association is throwing its support behind Democrat candidate Will Rollins.
Mike Torres: The Palm Springs Police Officers’ Association is proud to declare its endorsement for Will Rollins for Congress in California’s 41st Congressional District. […] Frankly, Will and I had a lot of conversations with our association, and he has the same values and goals that we have. All of our ideologies aligned, and we’re just hoping for a better future. I think Will’s gonna be able to bring that to us.
Jennifer Franco, KESQ: Rollins supports giving local law enforcement more resources at the federal level to prevent crime.
Will Rollins: We need a local task force that partners with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, our sheriff’s department, our local departments across the county, like Palm Springs, and helps give them the tools that they need at the federal level to investigate some of these more sophisticated cyber rings, because that’s how a lot of the smash and grabs are being organized.
Jennifer Franco, KESQ: Rollins is hoping to win voters over with his approach to not only crime but also border security, which he says needs:
Will Rollins: Thermal imaging at the border, drones, more boots on the ground.
