Barbara Kirkmeyer Sides with Big Pharma, Wants Prescription Costs Sky High for Coloradans

Kirkmeyer attacks wildly popular IRA provisions to bring down the costs of prescription drugs

Ahead of the House vote on the Inflation Reduction Act, yesterday, Barbara Kirkmeyer slammed a popular provision to allow the government to negotiate with pharmaceutical companies and bring skyrocketing costs of prescription drugs back down to Earth.

Instead of supporting legislation to reduce the deficit, lower inflation, and cut the costs of prescription drugs at a time when Coloradans need it most, Barbara Kirkmeyer took the side of special interests.

This is part and parcel for Kirkmeyer, who has long opposed reducing health care costs for Coloradans: Kirkmeyer threatened to dismantle the Affordable Care Act and opposed the creation of a state affordability review board to cap the costs of lifesaving medication.

Unsurprisingly, Kirkmeyer has accepted thousands of dollars from the pharmaceutical industry to fund her campaigns

REMINDER: Last week, a pharmaceutical lobbying group sent a letter to every Member of Congress instructing them to vote against the Inflation Reduction Act. It is clear that if Barbara Kirkmeyer were in office today, she would carry out the marching orders of Big Pharma.

DCCC Spokesperson Maddy Mundy:
“Time and time again, Barbara Kirkmeyer sides with special interests over hardworking Colorado families – allowing prices to skyrocket. In her clinic, Dr. Yadira Caraveo has spent a decade helping Coloradans receive lifesaving care. In Congress, Coloradans can’t afford to trade a champion for patients with someone who will follow orders from Big Pharma.”
