| As Michigan families brace for rising costs on everything from school supplies to prescription drugs, Tom Barrett and Bill Huizenga are nowhere to be found — not at in-person town halls hearing from their constituents face-to-face, and certainly not standing up for the people they were elected to represent.
Why? Because Barrett and Huizenga would have to explain why they’re failing to make life more affordable for hardworking Michigan families.
Making matters worse, Donald Trump is now threatening to impose 250% tariffs on pharmaceutical imports, a move expected to drastically increase the cost of essential medications — and Barrett and Huizenga are standing by without objection.
Meanwhile, parents are starting back-to-school shopping early amid fears that tariffs will raise prices on supplies and the overwhelming majority of Americans are stressed about the rising cost of groceries.
And that’s on top of sweeping tariffs threatening Michigan jobs and manufacturing: as analysis finds that tariffs could increase American factory costs by as much as 4.5%, Ford faces a “$2 billion tariff hit,” and businesses like Howard Miller in MI-04 close due to concerns over tariffs.
DCCC Spokesperson Katie Smith:
“Tom Barrett and Bill Huizenga promised to lower costs — but they’ve done the opposite. Instead, they’re backing reckless tariffs, ignoring rising prices, and abandoning the hardworking Michigan families they were elected to serve.” |
