Alaska’s Providence Health System, the state’s largest hospital and largest private employer, is cutting jobs thanks in large part to Nick Begich and the GOP’s cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, and support for economy-killing tariffs.
The health provider acknowledged “multiple pressures” in their decision, including tariffs that “have led to higher costs for pharmaceuticals and supplies,” the GOP’s more than $800 billion in cuts to Medicaid, and a ballooning deficit made worse by the Big, Ugly Bill which will trigger $500 billion in mandatory reductions in Medicare spending over a decade.
DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“Alaskans are already feeling the fallout from Nick Begich and House Republicans’ terrible economic policies. Begich has made clear he would rather fall in line with his party bosses than fight for Alaskans’ jobs and livelihoods.”
