Begich’s Big, Ugly Bill Would Raise Costs on Older Alaskans

As the cost of living continues to rise and be the top issue on voters’ minds, Nick Begich and House Republicans are working hard to raise health care costs on older Americans.

A new study from the Center for American Progress finds that the GOP Tax Scam would cost some older Alaskans an average increase of $16,700 to their annual premiums to keep their current ACA marketplace plan.

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimates the House-version of the GOP Tax Scam would result in 16 million people uninsured nationwide by gutting Medicaid and failing to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits. In addition, nearly 24 million people will see their monthly health care costs increase and over 300 rural hospitals could close.

And yet Begich voted for this price-spiking abomination.

DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“Nick Begich is desperately failing to uphold his campaign promise to lower the cost of living – instead, making it his mission to give tax breaks to huge corporations and billionaires by making the largest cut to health care and food assistance in American history.”
