Bettendorf Voter: “Where is D1 ‘Representative’ Miller-Meeks?” [Letter to the Editor]

“Back in April, Meeks promised she would hold in-person town halls and even tele-town halls. Since April, she has had photo ops and private events (read: fundraisers) but zero town halls.”

In a scathing letter to the editor, one of Mariannette Miller-Meeks’ constituents is putting the vulnerable congresswoman on blast for failing to hold a single in-person town hall meeting – despite
repeatedly promising to meet with Iowans back in April. (It’s been 111 days since she made that pledge, for anyone who’s counting.)

In the letter, Miller-Meeks is slammed for being “grotesquely dishonest in her vow to have these in person town halls” and aptly described as “afraid to meet constituents… because she continuously votes against our best interests and our wishes in order to be loyal to a political party.”

DCCC Spokesperson Katie Smith:
“Mariannette Miller-Meeks is afraid to face Iowans because she can’t defend her vote for the Big, Ugly Law – which will rip health care away from her constituents while giving away massive tax breaks to her billionaire and special interest friends. Iowans won’t forget Miller-Meeks’ latest betrayal, and they will vote her out next November.”

Quad City Times: Letter: When will Miller-Meeks have a town hall meeting?

  • Where is D1 “Representative” Miller-Meeks?
  • Back in April, Meeks promised she would hold in-person town halls and even tele-town halls. Since April, she has had photo ops and private events (read: fundraisers) but zero town halls.
  • The month of August for decades has been a month-long House break, yet Meeks and staff seem to have been caught by surprise by this break. A break period extended this year by Republican Speaker Johnson as Republicans ran away from another promise regarding those so-called “Epstein files.”
  • I have been told by multiple Meeks staffers that these events would be posted about seven days out on Meeks official government website, newsletter and social media. According to Meeks own staff, there is nothing planned as of Aug. 4, meaning Meeks will have gone about half of this break with no plans of honoring her promise.
  • The evidence suggests either Meeks was being grotesquely dishonest in her vow to have these in person town halls, or Meeks and her staff are too incompetent to squeeze in even a single town hall in a months long period.
  • Another possibility is that Meeks is afraid to meet constituents who have been calling for these town halls because she continuously votes against our best interests and our wishes in order to be loyal to a political party.
  • This is not representation but this is Miller-Meeks.
