Big, Ugly Bill Would Raise Costs on Older Virginians

As the cost of living continues to rise and be the top issue on voters’ minds, Jen Kiggans, Rob Wittman, and House Republicans are working hard to raise health care costs on older Americans.

A new study from the Center for American Progress finds that the GOP Tax Scam would cost older Virginians an average increase of at least $1,200 more in annual premiums to keep their current ACA marketplace plan.

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimates the House-version of the GOP Tax Scam would result in 16 million people uninsured nationwide by gutting Medicaid and failing to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits. In addition, nearly 24 million people will see their monthly health care costs increase and over 300 rural hospitals could close.

And yet Kiggans and Wittman voted for this price-spiking abomination.

DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“Jen Kiggans and Rob Wittman are desperately failing to uphold their campaign promises to lower the cost of living. Instead, they are making it their mission to give tax breaks to huge corporations and billionaires by making the largest cut to health care and food assistance in American history.”
