BIRDS OF A FEATHER: Out-Of-Touch Extremist Mike Johnson Endorses Out-Of-Touch Extremist Derek Merrin

Today, Derek Merrin announced his endorsement from Speaker Mike Johnson — the architect and leader of Republicans’ continued chaos caucus.

Specifically, Merrin is “honored to have the support” of a speaker who…

• Led an effort to slash Social Security and Medicare by trillions and raise the age of retirement.

• Supported the repeal of the Affordable Care Act, which would rip away coverage from Ohioans with pre-existing conditions.

• Voted against the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act, which is creating good-paying manufacturing jobs in the state.

• Voted against capping insulin costs and allowing Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices for seniors.

Merrin’s own extremism is certainly in good company with Johnson’s. 

While Johnson pushed for a national abortion ban without exceptions that would roll back the reproductive freedoms he claims have caused “an American holocaust,” Merrin “shepherded” Ohio’s six week abortion ban that had no exceptions for rape or incest.

And while Johnson played an instrumental role in the effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election, Merrin led his own failed subversive movement in the Ohio Statehouse to rewrite the state’s constitution to effectively end majority rule.
