BIRDS OF A FEATHER: Rep. Ryan Mackenzie Endorses Extremist Stacy Garrity for Governor

REMINDER: Governor Josh Shapiro won Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District by roughly 13 percentage points the last time he was on the ballot in 2022. 

In other words: Mackenzie has just made the head scratching choice to endorse against an incredibly popular governor who he will share the ticket with this November. Yikes.

DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“At this point you have to wonder: Is Congressman Ryan Mackenzie trying to lose? His decision to endorse an extreme and frankly bizarre candidate over incredibly popular Governor Shapiro is political malpractice. Maybe Mackenzie realizes that both he and Garrity are going down together like a sinking ship – after all, his record includes voting to gut health care and supporting reckless tariffs that are making everything from groceries to housing more expensive.” 

Here’s what you need to know about the candidate Mackenzie is throwing his support behind:

• Garrity hasn’t named a single issue where she disagrees with Trump — which makes her a perfect pair for Mackenzie, who was mocked on late night TV for acting as a loyal lapdog toward Trump.
• Garrity has completely embraced Trump’s reckless tariffs that are raising prices for families – just like Mackenzie, who has repeatedly voted to protect Trump’s cost-spiking tariffs that are killing jobs in the Lehigh Valley and making everything from groceries to housing more expensive.
• Garrity fully endorses Mackenzie’s so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” that is ripping health care away from more than 310,000 Pennsylvanians and threatens to close up to 25 rural hospitals.
• Garrity said she is “100 percent pro-life” and that her position on abortion “has never changed” – aligning with Mackenzie, who voted for an abortion ban that had no exceptions for rape or incest while serving in Harrisburg, and then scrubbed details of his anti-abortion voting record from his website and from his Wikipedia page.
