Blum’s Candidate Wins in Iowa; House Freedom Caucus Plots Next Insurrection

After Driving Blum’s Agenda in Congress, Cruz is Driving the Republican Presidential Primary

Rod Blum has long been a fan of Ted Cruz. Cruz even came to Iowa last cycle to stump for the ideologically simpatico Blum. Earlier this year when they campaigned again together, Cruz praised Blum for being “a ferocious and very effective ally.” After his election, Blum wasted no time in selling out his constituents to join a secretive club (so secret he shamefully tried to deny he was a member) called the House Freedom Caucus – a caucus controlled by Ted Cruz. It should concern Iowans that Blum is more interested in furthering the agenda of a fringe Senator than listening to hardworking families in the 1st District.

Just today, it was reported that the House Freedom Caucus was in the basement of Tortilla Coast yesterday evening “plotting the next target of a conservative insurrection.” This time it’s the budget.

“Ted Cruz’s win in Iowa is bad news for hardworking families, but it must be welcome news for his good buddy Congressman Blum,” said DCCC Spokesman Tyler Law. “After all, Blum has already sacrificed any modicum of independence to Cruz’s House Freedom Caucus.”

Let’s take a look at how similar Ted Cruz and Rod Blum are:

  • Blum and Cruz both like meeting in secret in the basement of Tex-Mex restaurant in DC to make decisions behind closed doors while pretending to want an open government.
  • Blum and Cruz support shutting down the government even though it costs the federal government billions of dollars. Blum even reiterated his desire to shut down the government more often in a recent radio interview.
  • Blum and Cruz want to end a woman’s constitutional right to choose.
  • Blum and Cruz want to end Social Security and Medicare as we know it.

House Freedom Caucus members that have endorsed Ted Cruz:

  • Mark Meadows
  • Jim Bridenstine
  • Mo Brooks
  • Ken Buck
  • Paul Gosar
  • Jody Hice
  • Alex Mooney
  • Randy Weber
