| During an interview on MS NOW, Bucks County Commissioner Bob Harvie called out vulnerable Republican Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick for unleashing pain on Bucks and Montgomery County families.
Harvie hit Fitzpatrick for voting for Speaker Mike Johnson which greenlighted Donald Trump and D.C. Republicans’ agenda. Harvie added about Fitzpatrick: “He’s seeing the same poll numbers I’m seeing, which show he’s in trouble.” Polling shows Harvie leads Fitzpatrick when voters hear both candidates’ message.

TRANSCRIPT HIGHLIGHTS:
Anchor: The path for Democrats to win back control of Congress runs through Pennsylvania, where there are four House races in swing districts. My next guest is running in one of them, hoping to unseat five-term Republican incumbent Brian Fitzpatrick… What are you hearing now from voters that makes you think you can flip this seat?
Bob Harvie: …What I’m hearing from people in this district—probably across the country—is the same, which is that they’re angry. They’re angry that they’re working harder than ever and things are just getting more expensive. They’re angry at having to cut back on travel plans. They’re angry at, you know, electricity costs, the cost of gasoline, the cost of milk, healthcare costs. And they’re angry mostly about a government that they feel has left them behind. And they have a Congress, quite frankly, they can’t—they know they can’t trust.
Anchor: You have the backing of Governor Josh Shapiro there in your state and the DCCC. How does that impact your campaign, and do you have the resources you need for this race?
Bob Harvie: Yeah, we absolutely do… The Governor, as you may have noticed, did his election night—after our primary last month—his election night event in my county, my district, Bucks County, because he knows how important this district is […]
Bob Harvie: Brian Fitzpatrick is a master of, you know, “listen to what I say, don’t watch what I do.” When it comes down to it, you know, the most important vote from this Congress that he made was the first vote, which was to make Mike Johnson Speaker of the House. And so everything that’s happened since then has been happening with him—Mike Johnson and Brian Fitzpatrick—complicit in everything. Whether it’s voting multiple times on Iran with Donald Trump, voting multiple times on tariffs with Donald Trump, voting to advance Trump’s budget bill by one vote out of the House a year ago—and that one vote was Brian Fitzpatrick. So right now, he’s seeing the same poll numbers I’m seeing, which show he’s in trouble. And so he’s going to do all kinds of things to pretend that he’s a moderate, but he’s not.
Anchor: What gives you confidence as you head into this race…?
Bob Harvie: Well, the confidence I have comes from the fact that I’ve won this county, which makes up 90% of the district, twice in the past six years. I’m born and raised here. I taught school here for 20 years as a public high school teacher. Brian Fitzpatrick has never faced a countywide elected official before. We have flipped this county blue. It is bluer now than ever before, and that is something he’s not used to facing… |
