Mobile optimized website highlights Democratic legislative accomplishments and how long McConnell has doomed them to Republican inaction
In the 2018 Election Cycle it was Speaker Paul Ryan and his Washington agenda that voters loved to loathe. Now it’s Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell, who has proudly crowned himself the “Grim Reaper,” that voters have correctly identified as the root of Washington dysfunction. Unfortunately for House Republicans who have attempted to block Democrats’ popular agenda, they’re poised to own every piece of Mitch McConnell’s contributions to the Washington gridlock.
To memorialize the many actions Mitch McConnell and Washington Republicans have taken to block the priorities of the American people, the DCCC is launching McConnellGraveyard.com this Halloween. McConnellGraveyard.com highlights some of the most important bills House Democrats have passed already, and will allow interested voters to keep track of how long those bills have collected dust, ignored and undebated, in Mitch McConnell’s legislative graveyard.
More than a well-timed microsite, however, McConnellGraveyard.com highlights one of Washington Republicans’ biggest vulnerabilities: Mitch McConnell is well on his way to being yet another albatross around vulnerable House Republicans’ necks.
Here’s the evidence of how unpopular Mitch McConnell has become from a national survey of 2,170 registered voters conducted October 23-28, 2019:
- Mitch McConnell’s favorability rating among all voters: 21% fav/58% unfav (-37)
- Mitch McConnell’s favorability rating among independents: 11% fav/56% unfav (-45)
“While Democrats in the House are following through on the priorities of the American people, Republicans are taking the lead of Senator McConnell and actively blocking legislation that will make health care more affordable, communities safer, and politicians more accountable to their voters,” said DCCC spokesperson Cole Leiter. “The DCCC will continue to force House Republicans to answer for the ways they’re standing in the way of progress for the American people and if they think they can avoid blame for Mitch McConnell’s legislative graveyard they’re gravely mistaken.”
