Brad Finstad Votes to Protect Cost-Raising Tariffs

Despite Trump’s sweeping tariffs costing the average American household $1,000 more per year, Finstad still supports them

Last night, Brad Finstad voted *again* to shield Donald Trump from Congressional oversight on his sweeping, reckless tariffs that are raising costs for Minnesotans.

The pivotal vote comes as a new report from the Tax Foundation found Trump’s tariffs cost the average American household $1,000 last year. The cost is expected to rise in 2026 to $1,300 if existing tariffs that House Republicans voted on today stay in place.

This isn’t the first time Finstad voted to rubber stamp Trump’s sweeping tariffs. In September of 2025, Finstad voted to protect price-hiking tariffs, after doing the same thing in March of 2025. Last night’s vote would have shielded oversight until the Summer of 2026.

REMINDER: Finstad “defended the use of tariffs” and “did not respond to a request for further comment” about the harm that tariffs are having on soybean farmers.

DCCC Spokesperson Katie Smith:
“Brad Finstad votes once again to raise costs on hardworking families and undercut Southern Minnesota’s farm economy. On the campaign trail Finstad pledged to lower the cost of living and stand up for farmers, but he’s done the exact opposite. Promises made, promises broken.”

Here’s how Finstad’s tariffs are hurting Southern Minnesota:
