As women across the country endure the unimaginable, brutal consequences of Republican’s war on women, Brandon Williams and House Republicans are doubling down on their anti-choice agenda in the early days of serving in the majority.
Earlier this week, in one of his very first votes in Congress, Williams voted against consideration of the Women’s Health Protection Act which would codify the reproductive freedoms Roe v. Wade guaranteed before the Supreme Court ripped them away.
REMINDER: Brandon Williams is anti-choice “without any qualification.” He is an unabashed supporter of efforts to overturn Roe v. Wade, calling the Dobbs decision a “monumental victory” while repeatedly bemoaning the fact that “nothing would change in New York.” While he insisted abortion rights were “not a federal issue,” Williams was caught trying to soften his extreme stance against abortion rights during his competitive campaign.
DCCC spokesperson Nebeyatt Betre:
“When it was politically useful, Williams downplayed House Republicans’ commitment to banning abortion nationwide and suggested he would be reasonable in protecting women’s freedoms. Now that Williams is in Congress after a tough election, he is showing voters his true cards: Williams is an anti-choice extremist who supports Republicans’ war on women.”
