BREAKING: CBO Finds House GOP Health Care Bill Will Slash Insurance Coverage for 24 Million Americans

Today, the Congressional Budget Office released its analysis of the Republican health care bill, which makes clear that their plan drives costs up and coverage down – all while giving tax breaks to millionaires and health insurance CEO’s. It is estimated that 24 million Americans total will lose health insurance because of this plan, and 14 million could lose coverage as soon as next year.

“Speaker Ryan and House Republicans spent seven years finger-pointing and spewing false promises about replacing the Affordable Care Act with lower costs and more coverage,” said DCCC spokesperson Tyler Law. “Now we know that the Republican plan actually rips coverage away from an estimated 24 million Americans while giving tax breaks to millionaires and health insurance CEO’s.

“Every single House Republican owns this catastrophic bill and should be prepared for backlash at the ballot box, particularly given the anticipated loss of coverage for 14 million people as early as next year.”

After seven-years of finger pointing and making empty promises, House Republicans have failed to come up with a viable alternative to the Affordable Care Act that reduces the cost of health insurance and maintains affordable coverage for working families and seniors.
