BREAKING: Erik Paulsen Declares Gun Violence, Same-Sex Marriage Issues “Settled”

After revealing his partisan ideology in a rare interview with Roll Call this week, saying that he only focuses on “issues that are really important, that really matter,” Erik Paulsen once again revealed his ideological colors to MinnPost.

Asked why he doesn’t want to focus on Terri Bonoff’s criticism of his anti-woman, anti-LGBTQ, anti-gun safety, anti-science record, Paulsen declared two of those issues ‘mostly settled’:

“Instead of the presidential race, Paulsen says that voters are focusing on health care, citing rising Obamacare premiums, and countered that Bonoff is running a divisive campaign based on wedge issues. Her criticism of Paulsen over gun control and same-sex marriage, the Republican says, are backward-looking, and that these issues have mostly been settled.”

“Erik Paulsen’s declaration is beyond insulting. I’m sure everyone who knew a victim of gun violence – whether they were a civilian or a police officer – will be happy to know that someone who has taken thousands of dollars from the gun lobby and then voted 26 times with Republicans to block gun safety measures from even coming up for a vote just declared gun violence to be ‘settled,’” said Sacha Haworth of the DCCC. “And I’m sure that LGBTQ families will be overjoyed to know that although Erik Paulsen consistently voted against their right to marry and won an award for his anti-LGBTQ record, he now calls gay rights ‘backward-looking.’”
