After lighting $1.7M on fire in a failed effort to stop Bob Brooks in the primary, Republicans tried to plant a fake third party candidate on the ballot
Ryan Mackenzie’s allies have been caught redhanded (evergreen).
New reporting today reveals that national Republicans paid the lawyer representing the fake Green Party candidate who a judge ultimately kicked off the ballot in PA-07.
Punchbowl News reports:
During his legal battle, Tupone hired Wally Zimolong, a well-known Pennsylvania GOP lawyer who had given to Mackenzie before. The NRCC paid Zimolong LLC $60,000 in July for “legal consulting” and $160,000 in August for “Recount – legal consulting.” The NRCC declined to comment.
And Armchair Lehigh Valley adds:
“The payments were made as his campaign launched and subsequent cases unfolded in Harrisburg in state courts.”
A simple question for Ryan Mackenzie: Was he involved in this scheme, and what did he know about it?
DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin: “Republicans tried and failed twice to meddle in the Lehigh Valley because they know weak incumbent Ryan Mackenzie can’t run on his own record. Firefighter Bob Brooks will smoke him in November.
“These filings also show there is no extreme that Mackenzie’s allies won’t stoop to in this race, and you shouldn’t believe a single word they say.”
