| This plan is based around the centerpiece of Miller-Meeks’ failed health care bill: cost-sharing reduction payments, which the CBO found would raise out-of-pocket costs and kick 300,000 people off their insurance. This plan uses Miller-Meek’s proposed health care cuts to pay for war in Iran.
Last year, Miller-Meeks and Nunn voted for the largest cut to Medicaid and food assistance in American history to fund massive tax breaks for billionaires. Hospitals, nursing homes and community-based health clinics across the country are closing because of this law. At the same time, Miller-Meeks and Nunn failed to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits, forcing Iowans to choose between higher premium costs or losing insurance altogether.
DCCC Spokesperson Katie Smith:
“Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Zach Nunn gutted rural health care funding in Iowa to deliver massive tax breaks for Washington special interests and billionaires and now, they’re developing a plan to further cut health care to pay for a war overseas. Iowans here at home are hurting and deserve better than Miller-Meeks and Nunn’s failed leadership.”
REMINDER: Miller-Meeks and Nunn’s votes gutting health care are already wreaking havoc on Iowans as hospitals and clinics close down, end services, and layoff staff due to health care cuts.
