After weeks of twisting herself into a pretzel and trying to hide her support for outlawing abortion from Virginians, Kiggans has finally admitted that she supports a national abortion ban.
As first reported by Virginia Scope, Kiggans’ campaign said she supports “common sense” abortion restrictions “such as protecting babies from 15 weeks on.” This follows weeks of Kiggans trying to dodge questions from the press and Virginians about where she stands, including telling Fox News that abortion bans are a “state-level issue” and just a “shiny object” being used to distract voters. “Banning abortion is not on my agenda,” Kiggans claimed in a Fox News interview last week.
Jen Kiggans’ support for the Republican national abortion ban introduced in Congress means she is backing a ban that would:

Supersede Virginia law and impose an abortion ban on Virginians,

Impose jail time on doctors, and
-
Still allow states to ban abortion with no exceptions for rape, incest, or to save the life of the mother.
“Jen Kiggans has spent weeks lying to Virginians about her support for outlawing abortion, but now the truth comes out,” said DCCC spokesperson Monica Robinson. “Kiggans would vote for a national abortion ban and rob millions of Virginia women of their right to make their own health care decisions. Her anti-abortion views are dangerous, and Virginians can’t afford to send her to Congress.”
