The National Journal’s first 2026 House Power Rankings listed NY-17 as one of the most competitive races next November, spelling BIG trouble for Mike Lawler.
“It’s one of just three Republican-held districts Harris carried, meaning it’s fundamentally competitive, and a Democratic-leaning year could be challenging for Lawler to overcome.”
This comes as no surprise after Lawler cast a cruel, unpopular, and decisive vote to kick over 32,000 of his own constituents off their health care, rip food off the tables of Hudson Valley families, and make life more expensive for New Yorkers – all so he can give Republicans’ billionaire donors more tax breaks.
