The National Journal’s first 2026 House Power Rankings listed Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District as the most competitive race next November, spelling BIG trouble for House Republicans as they attempt to hold onto their slim majority.
“Democrats rejoice as centrist Rep. Don Bacon is calling it quits at the end of the term […] Bacon won by about 6,000 votes last cycle, even as late polling showed him in trouble […] unless Republicans find another superstar, this is undoubtedly the most vulnerable seat in the country.”
This comes as no surprise considering Don Bacon abandoned his seat after casting a cast a cruel, unpopular, and decisive vote to kick his constituents off their health care, rip food off the tables of Nebraska’s families, and make life more expensive for Nebraskans – all so he can give Republicans’ billionaire donors more tax breaks.
DCCC Spokesperson Madison Andrus:
“Don Bacon’s broken promises in Congress have solidified this seat as one of the most competitive races in the entire country. Make no mistake, in 466 days, we’re going to flip this seat.”
