BREAKING: Republican Nominee in NY-27 Special Election Accused Of Committing Voter Fraud

Erie County District Attorney Reviews Complaint Against Trump-Endorsed Chris Jacobs For Alleged Voter Fraud

Chris Jacobs, Republican nominee and Trump-backed candidate in Tuesday’s NY-27 special election, has found himself in some hot water.

News 4 Buffalo has learned that the Erie County District Attorney’s office is reviewing a complaint filed against Jacobs alleging that he committed voter and election fraud.

According to News 4 anchor Dave Greber, the allegations include:

  • That Jacobs registered to vote in the district before actually owning a home there;
  • That Jacobs voted in the district without it having been his primary residence for 30 days, as required under voter law;
  • That Jacobs filed documents in March regarding his election, which claimed that his primary residence was in the 27th district, though it was not yet.

What’s more, the complaint against Jacobs show affidavits of “private investigators [and] neighbors” stating that Jacobs’ primary home is in the 26th district, NOT the 27th.

Uh oh.

Donald Trump tweeted about his endorsement of Chris Jacobs four times before this story broke, indicating that Republicans may have already been nervous about this race in a seat Trump won by 25 points in 2016. Given Trump’s stance on voter fraud in the past, we can only wonder if that support will continue.

“Chris Jacobs finds himself embroiled in an election and voter fraud scandal days before a pivotal special election,” said DCCC Spokesperson Christine Bennett. “This is not the kind of attention any candidate would want, especially in a district full of voters who are tired of Republican criminals in this seat. Republicans should be really concerned about this race.”
