Today, the DCCC announced that Bridget Fleming has been added to its competitive ‘Red to Blue’ program, signaling that national Democrats are invested in providing NY-01 and Fleming, a top-tier candidate, the organizational and fundraising support needed to continue developing a strong campaign and flip NY-01 blue.
As a local elected official, Fleming has proven she knows how to deliver real results. She has championed tax relief and environmental protection and was a steady presence for residents throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath. Newsday called her “one of the most active and effective lawmakers in the county.”
Redistricting has made NY-01 one of the most competitive districts in the state, and Fleming’s addition to ‘Red to Blue’ is a clear warning to Republicans that Democrats are working hard to flip this seat in November.
DCCC Spokesperson Nebeyatt Betre
“Now more than ever, New Yorkers deserve a leader who will actually fight for them, not their extreme party bosses. Unlike her opponent Nick LaLota, Fleming has built a strong record of delivering meaningful results to her community, and she’ll expand on that record even further when she flips New York’s First Congressional District from red to blue this November.”
