Bacon Latest Member of GOP to Vote No and Take the Dough
Today, vulnerable GOP Rep. Don Bacon touted a critical COVID relief program for Nebraska small businesses enacted by the American Rescue Plan.
The only problem? He voted against it.
Bacon voted NO on the American Rescue Plan, which is putting shots in arms, money in pockets, people back to work, and children safely back in the classroom. But he’s all too happy to take credit for the much-needed relief it’s bringing home to Nebraska.
Bacon isn’t the only GOP rep to vote no and take the dough – House Republicans are scrambling to align themselves with the widely popular relief package that Democrats delivered. And they’re getting slammed for it:
- Washington Post: OUCH: GOP lawmakers are touting a coronavirus relief provision that they voted against.
- MSNBC: Republicans still touting COVID relief package they roundly rejected
- Talking Points Memo: Republicans Still Shamelessly Touting COVID Relief They Voted Against
“Congressman Don Bacon voted against the very relief that’s helping small businesses keep their doors open and putting Nebraskans back to work – and now he is scrambling to take credit for the program’s success. Nebraskans won’t soon forget that Bacon turned his back on them when they needed him most,” said DCCC spokesperson Johanna Warshaw.
