‘BUILDING BLOCKS’ REPORT: Donald Trump & Congressman Bob Dold Built from Same Reckless Policies

As First Digital Ad Campaign Continues to Target Women in Illinois’ 10th Congressional District This Week– DCCC Releases Report of Shared Policies Between Trump & Congressman Bob Dold

Just before Memorial Day, the DCCC launched its first paid digital advertising campaign of the cycle in 15 districts, including IL-10, to highlight the clear connection between Donald Trump and Congressman Bob Dold. As that two-week advertisement, “Building Blocks,” continues to run locally, and in the days following Speaker Paul Ryan’s delayed endorsement of Donald Trump, the DCCC released a report today specifically outlining the reckless policies and positions that Donald Trump and Bob Dold share.

Donald Trump’s ascension as the Republican presidential nominee means House Republicans will be on the Trump ticket in November, a deeply damaging and unavoidable reality. Further, Trump’s mantle as the leader of the Republican Party shines a national spotlight on the anti-immigrant, anti-women, anti-Muslim, and anti-LGBT positions of the House Republicans – positions they staked out long before Trump launched his campaign.

Specifically, the DCCC’s report outlined Congressman Bob Dold’s Trump-like positions, for example:

  • One of Trump’s most notorious, toxic positions is his proposed ban on all Muslims entering the United States. Months before Trump staked out this discriminatory ground, Bob Dold was an honored speaker at a conference held by the “nation’s leading anti-Muslim hate group,” ACT! for America.

These advertisements will continue through this week, targeting female Independent and Republican voters in IL-10, with whom Donald Trump’s numbers are toxic. This 5-figure digital ad campaign will also be promoted on Facebook in Washington, D.C.
